The artist’s own garden is bound by the Brisbane River, Maiwar. River Garden takes inspiration from this real place which became an even more precious retreat throughout the pandemic periods of isolation and lock down last year. Offering a vital antidote to the domination of global virtual mediascapes, the sensorial world of the garden and of painting offer connections of another kind. The artist conjures a heightened sense of being and presence, inviting us to glimpse the rivers of life, of time and memory that flow through and shape all things.
